Objective:

The programme is focused on providing participants with the technical knowledge to operate successfully as packaging technologists as a manufacturer or user of packaging.  Participants will receive the only Diploma qualification in packaging technology which is accredited at Level 7 on the Irish National Framework of Qualifications and will also be provided with the opportunity to network with industry peers.

Who should attend this course?

This Diploma is designed for people working with packaging in manufacturing or filling on a day to day basis.  Applicants should have a minimum of 3 years experience in a packaging environment and ideally possess a qualification at Level 7 or above.  It is especially suited to those buying or selling packaging or those using / packing / filling in the Food, Drink and Pharmaceutical sectors. The diploma is particularly suited to persons responsible for specifying or working in a role as Packaging Technician.


Travel details to the venue/parking:

The location of the programme will be confirmed.  The programme will be delivered in two 3 day modules and seven 2 day modules between late September 2011 and May 2012.  2 day modules will be on Friday and Saturday.  3 day modules will be on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Packaging Materials and Containers

Package Printing and Decorating

Packaging Machinery

Managing the Packaging Function


The sylabus will be exmained through a combination of end of year exams and project which will require submissions at Christmas 2011 and May 2012.

This programme is provided by a number of industry experts who have lectured in this area for a number of years.  This allows a strong combination of the theoretical background to the technological aspects of the programme to be coupled with real world experience.

All trainers are also experienced in facilitating discussions amongst the programme participants who can often bring speciliast knowledge of some aspects of the programme.
