Please note that is is possible to attend modules and earn a number of ECTS credits (5 for the 2 day modules and 10 for the 4 day modules).  These credits can be used in relation to additional studies.

Overview & Who should attend:

This Level 7 Continuing Professional Development Diploma will be offered in DIT Bolton Street using the excellent facilities of the Department of Print Media.  The Diploma is designed for people working in the industry from a number of backgrounds:

 

  • For those who have completed their National Craft Certificate (apprenticeship) but who want to get a more managerial based qualification 
  • For those who have entered the industry without any third level qualification 
  • For those without any structured training/education in the field of printing management 

Duration & Modules:

The Diploma will run over a two year period and will require a total of 24 days (12 in each year) attendance at Bolton Street. 

 The modules to be covered are:

  • Introduction to Organisation Behaviour  
  • Communications
  • Industry Structure – Internal & External Regulatory
  • Sales and Marketing  
  • Materials and Paper Technology  
  • Financial Control
  • Introduction to Design and Pre-Press Technology
  • Introduction to Print and Digital Media Technology
  • Introduction to Post-Press and Packaging Technology

 The programme is designed to allow an individual take all of the modules to achieve the Level 7 Diploma.  However, it is possible to take any of the modules on their own and earn a number of ECTS credits (5 for the 2 day modules and 10 for the 4 day modules).  These credits can be used in relation to additional studies.

 Successful graduates of the full Diploma will have substantial exemptions in relation to a planned Degree programme for the sector.

The cost of the programme is heavily subsidised by the Design, Print and Packaging Skillnet.  Attendance on the full programme costs € 2,000 with the fee payable in two installments in 2011 and 2012.  Attendance on a 2 day module costs € 300 each and on the 4 day modules costs € 450 each.
